A comfortable, family-like atmosphere in a quiet residential neighborhood with easy freeway access nearby, American House Royal Oak is ideally situated near family, friends, shopping, and familiar medical professionals in Royal Oak, Madison Heights, Berkley, Huntington Woods, Clawson, and Troy. We are also located in close proximity to several hospitals including Royal Oak Beaumont, St. John Oakland, and Botsford Hospital. Royal Oak Senior Living provides Independent Living with assistance available.*

Our senior apartments are all ground floor studios with private baths on peaceful landscaped grounds. We also have a community dining room, activity rooms, and comfortable lounges for socializing.

Our Activity Director plans a wide range of cultural, social and recreational activities and trips, and staff members are available 24-hours a day. Resident Services also include scheduled transportation and restaurant-style dining available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Laundry and housekeeping services are also available.

Meet Your Executive Director

American House Royal Oak Senior Living Executive Director

CHRIS LAYMAC

Executive Director | 13 years experience

With certification as a chef among her accomplishments, Chris began her American House career on the nutrition side.  Starting as a night cook at our Elmwood location in 1996, Chris became assistant cook, then headed the dining services there.  Her enjoyment of seniors led her to become Activity Director at another location, and in 2003 she became Executive Director of her own community, Royal Oak.  A member of the Chronic Illness Coalition and the Alzheimer's Association, Chris credits her many long-term staffers in creating "a homey atmosphere... we are comfortable and cozy, and we all think of each other as family."

Map & Directions

From the North:
Take I-75 South, to 12 Mile, follow exit to 12 Mile and turn right, you are heading west. Go approximately 2 miles to the west and you will come to Main St. Go through that intersection and Washington is the second street on the right. Turn right on to Washington and we are a block up. Go to the north side of the building and the door to enter is there.
From the South:
Take I-75 North, to 12 Mile, follow exit to 12 Mile and turn left, you are heading west. Go approximately 2 miles to the west and you will come to Main St. Go through that intersection and Washington is the second street on the right. Turn right on to Washington and we are a block up. Go to the north side of the building and the door to enter is there.
From the East:
Take 696 west to I-75 North. Take I-75 North to 12 Mile, follow exit to 12 Mile and turn left, you are heading west. Go approximately 2 miles to the west and you will come to Main St. Go through that intersection and Washington is the second street on the right. Turn right on to Washington and we are a block up. Go to the north side of the building and the door to enter is there.
From the West:
Take 696 east to the Woodward, Main St. Exit. Do a Michigan turn so you are heading North on Woodward. Follow Woodward North to 12 Mile and turn right onto 12 Mile. Approximately 1 ½ Miles will be Crooks Rd. Washington is the third street on the left. Turn left on to Washington and we are a block up. Go to the north side of the building and the door to enter is there.

Detroit Zoo is off of Woodward and 696
Oakland Mall is off of I-75 and 14 Mile
Huge variety of restaurants on Main and Washington in Royal Oak. Royal Oak has a variety of events throughout the year. Annual Royal Oak in Blossom on Mother's Day. Vendors bring their flowers and landscaping items for sale. Art Fair, antique garage sale and Arts, Beats and Eats are all in Royal Oak. Royal Oak is the place to be.
