Happy National Activity Professionals Week: Honoring our dedicated LEDs.

They’re called the life of the party, and they truly are, whipping up excitement over anything from a yoga workout to an evening of karaoke. To their residents and team members, our Life Enrichment Directors represent something very important; they are the fun-makers of their community.

Life Enrichment Directors, by nature, are extremely adaptable people. As if by magic, they can transform crepe paper into a tree and will demonstrate the latest line dance at the drop of the hat. Happy Hour is their favorite hour – themed, even better. Our LEDs are connected; they have the Cappuccino Man on speed dial, and they can turn around an ice cream social in a matter of hours.

Most importantly they specialize in people, in getting to know the residents they serve, learning what they like and designing meaningful experiences that create smiles. They give their time, effort and energy to pave a path of fun and it is not forged lightly.

Everything is done with purpose.

In creating the engaging activities our residents enjoy, our LEDs align closely with our Wellness teams and wrap each activity around the seven dimensions of wellness. When they explore programming for our residents, the program must be research-based with benefits backed by scientific evidence. A good example is our Total Brain Health® group class, in which our residents take part in engaging mental workouts and learn about brain health in an enjoyable, social atmosphere. Our LEDs also collaborate with the culinary team to discover healthy, good-tasting foods for themed dinners, and encourage demonstrations that give residents ideas on how they can create their own delicious dishes.

Our American House Life Enrichment team ensures there’s never a dull moment. They bring the light, the warmth and the most genuine smiles. To each and every one of you, know that everything you do makes us all better, and your efforts are appreciated, today and always!
