What's On the Menu
One size never fits all at American House. Twice a year, our culinary team works closely in a test kitchen to create innovative, nutritionist-approved and regionally specific, five-week menu cycles to enhance the entire dining experience for our communities in the Midwest, the Southeast and New England
We utilize a variety of recipes to create seasonal menus that balance flavor, nutrition and variety. Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter senior living meal plans are developed and reviewed by certified dietitians to ensure consistency, quality and nutritional value. Residents may order from daily menus or select from an alternative menu featuring regional specialties, heart-healthy options and resident favorites.
A typical day may include:
Fresh fruit, eggs and breakfast specialties
Chef-crafted soups and salads
Entrées featuring poultry, seafood, beef or vegetarian selections
Seasonal vegetables and wholesome side dishes
Freshly prepared desserts
Alternative menu options available throughout the day
Menus are continuously evolving as our culinary leadership introduces new recipes, seasonal ingredients and resident-inspired favorites. Resident preferences also play an important role in menu development. Our culinary teams regularly gather feedback, helping shape future offerings while ensuring longtime favorites remain available. This collaborative approach keeps menus fresh, engaging and reflective of the tastes of the residents who call American House home.
Dietary Accommodations & Nutrition
Good nutrition is essential to healthy aging, and our team works closely with residents, families and health care professionals to support individual dietary needs.
American House provides dietary accommodations for physician-ordered restrictions and specialized nutritional requirements whenever possible. Depending on a resident’s needs, accommodations may include:
These accommodations are thoughtfully integrated into daily dining experiences across Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care Neighborhoods, helping residents enjoy meals that are both satisfying and appropriate for their individual needs.
Along with a diverse daily menu, our team creates memorable experiences that bring excitement and creativity to the table.
Every Event Has a Different Flavor
Throughout the year, residents enjoy interactive tastings and special culinary celebrations inspired by holidays, cultures and seasonal traditions. Our chefs enjoy engaging directly with residents through live cooking demonstrations, educational presentations and tastings.
From our popular Flamingle happy hour and Las Vegas-style social events to superfood seminars, BBQ gatherings and ice cream socials, there’s always something new to enjoy.
These events create opportunities for residents to learn, connect and celebrate while enjoying exceptional food and hospitality.
