Keeping Our Residents Safe: A Message About Food Safety and the Recent Lettuce Advisory

At American House, the health, safety and well-being of our residents is always our highest priority. We understand that recent news regarding a multi-state investigation involving Cyclosporiasis, a gastrointestinal illness caused by a parasite, may raise questions and concerns. We want to provide an update and share the steps we’re taking to continue providing safe, high-quality dining experiences for our residents.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and state health departments are currently investigating cases of Cyclosporiasis connected to certain shredded lettuce products served at Taco Bell locations in several states. The investigation is ongoing and additional information may become available as health officials continue their work.

At this time, Gordon Food Service, one of our trusted food service partners, has not received any product recalls or category-specific market withdrawals related to this investigation. American House does not use the bagged shredded lettuce products identified in the advisory, and our culinary teams continue to follow strict food safety procedures to help protect the health and safety of our residents.

Food safety is an important part of the dining experience at American House. Our culinary teams are committed to following industry-leading practices, including proper food handling, preparation, storage and sanitation procedures. We work closely with our food service partners and remain informed about updates from health organizations and regulatory agencies.
Our residents deserve meals that are not only delicious but also prepared with care and attention to every detail. From our chef-prepared dishes to the dedicated team members who serve them each day, our goal is to create dining experiences that residents can enjoy with confidence.

We’ll continue monitoring this situation and will take any necessary precautions based on guidance from trusted health organizations and our food safety partners. The safety and comfort of our residents will always guide our decisions.
Thank you for your continued trust in American House. We’re proud to care for our residents and remain committed to providing a safe, welcoming environment where they can enjoy every day to the fullest.
