American House Leadership Applauds Nicole Nation

-Marina Galu, Regional Vice President, Operations
“During and after the fire, I had the privilege of working side by side with Nicole as she demonstrated exceptional leadership, composure and decisive action. In the midst of chaos, Nicole immediately organized resident relocations, coordinated with HR, her team, the Red Cross and local partners, and ensured residents’ safety, dignity and continuity of care. Her calm presence and clear communication kept both residents and staff supported throughout an intensely stressful crisis.
Working alongside her during and after the fire, I witnessed firsthand that Nicole’s response that day reflects how she leads every day—with compassion, accountability and unwavering commitment to her residents and team. She anticipates challenges, mobilizes resources and inspires collaboration, making her an outstanding leader in both emergency situations and daily operations.
Nicole’s resilience, integrity and dedication to senior care truly embody the spirit of the Emergency Response Leadership Award.”

-Alex Germain-Robin, Chief Operating Officer
“When the fire struck American House Southgate, we faced an incredibly complex and emotional challenge for both residents and team members. From day one, Nicole demonstrated extraordinary leadership. She partnered seamlessly with our HR and corporate leadership teams, providing clear communication and thoughtful organization. Over the weeks following the fire, Nicole focused on what mattered most: the safety and comfort of our residents. Her partnership with the Red Cross drew high praise, with their organization noting that she and her staff executed at the highest level they had ever seen.
What stood out most was Nicole’s calm, composed presence. It made perfect sense for her to be the face in front of the cameras when national news outlets, including ABC, covered the story. Even under immense pressure, she remained approachable, solutions-oriented and deeply compassionate. Her leadership created trust and stability when it was needed most.
Nicole’s resilience and dedication throughout this crisis exemplify what true leadership looks like. I am immensely proud to have her on the American House team, and her impact continues to inspire those around her.”

-Jeff Nesgoda, Director of Human Resources
“When the fire occurred at American House Southgate, our HR team knew we were stepping into a complex and emotional situation for both residents and staff. From the very first day, Nicole stood out as a leader who made an incredibly difficult process far more manageable. She partnered with us seamlessly, sharing clear information, staying organized and keeping the focus on what mattered most—finding safe, supportive housing for residents and meaningful next steps for displaced team members. Because of her steady collaboration, our HR team was able to move quickly and confidently to rehouse residents and place employees in new roles across the organization.
What impressed me most during those challenging days was Nicole’s composure and presence. She balanced compassion for residents with a deep commitment to her team, which created a sense of trust and stability when people needed it most. Working with Nicole after the fire reaffirmed my respect for her as a leader—someone who not only rises to the occasion in crisis but makes others around her better in the process.”
